Carol Xu
Violin Teacher
Violinist Carol Xu holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance from Emory University. She began her musical studies at age 5 in Dallas and has since performed across the country, including at Carnegie Hall in New York. Prior to her studies in Atlanta, she was a member of the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra and a former recipient of the Young Achiever Scholarship from the Suzuki Association of the Americas.
During her time at Emory, Carol served as the concertmaster of the Emory University Symphony Orchestra and performed in several chamber ensembles across classical, jazz, and contemporary genres. In addition, she performed in masterclasses in Atlanta with renowned artists such as the members of the JulliardĀ String Quartet, David Coucheron, Randall Goosby, and Linda Rosenthal.
Carol’s dedication to her artistry is reflected not only in her performances but also in her commitment to teaching. She began instructing young violinists in 2019 and now has over five years of experience working with students, from beginners to those studying advanced repertoire. Carol’s teaching philosophy focuses on nurturing each student’s unique talents and needs, not only developing a solid foundation in technique but also fostering a genuine love for music. She believes in a holistic approach to music education, and emphasizes the importance of creativity and expression, encouraging her students to explore and enjoy the process of making music. Her goal is to inspire lifelong musical appreciation and to support her students in achieving their personal and artistic goals.
