Kazunori Tanaka

Originally from Tokyo, Kazunori Tanaka is an accomplished trumpeter with over six years of experience performing in the United States, in addition to a thriving career as a professional musician in Japan since 2010. His versatile career includes commercial work such as recording sessions, tour support, live performances, and teaching music to students of all levels.
In Japan, Kazunori’s notable credits include performing on the Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Super Music Complete soundtrack, playing with the Eric Miyashiro Band for TBS Broadcast Station, and touring with the Manhattan Jazz Orchestra at Billboard Osaka.
Kazunori first came to the Dallas-Fort Worth area to pursue a Master’s degree in Jazz Studies at the University of North Texas, where he was a distinguished member of the prestigious One O’Clock Lab Band from 2016 to 2019. Drawn to UNT by its reputation for training legendary musicians such as Frank Greene, Dan Fornero, Gary Grant, and John Thomas, he also sought to follow in the footsteps of his favorite trumpeter, Roy Hargrove, who hailed from Dallas.
After completing his studies, Kazunori made Dallas his home, immersing himself in the vibrant local music scene. He regularly performs with celebrated Dallas-based musicians, including Shaun Martin, Frank Moka, Daniel Jones, Shelly Carroll, and RC Williams.
In addition to live performances, Kazunori is highly sought after for recording sessions and plays in a variety of ensembles, ranging from jazz groups and big bands to fusion and neo-soul bands. Alongside his performing career, Kazunori is passionate about teaching and sharing his expertise with aspiring musicians, helping them hone their skills and develop a deep appreciation for music. His dedication to both performance and education continues to inspire and contribute to the musical community in Dallas and beyond.
