SOPHIE NORMAN
Voice
Sophie Norman is an opera singer with a wide repertoire who has performed at opera houses and concert stages around the world. As a voice teacher, she has taught voice lessons privately at schools and music studios for more than twenty years. Ms. Norman has proven to be a versatile singer and performer with experience in musical styles as diverse as opera, pop, and musical theater.
She has studied Voice-Opera in Germany, Italy, Turkey, and the United States with some of the world’s premier professors, vocal coaches and conductors including Hilda Cabezas-Grabner, Mirella Freni, Leyla Gencer, and Licinio Montefusco. She has also attended master classes & studied some of the finest conservatoires like Hochschule für Musik, Theater and Medien Hannover in Germany, Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart, Bilkent University Faculty of Music Performing Arts in Turkey.
After moving to the United States, Ms. Norman completed her Associate of Arts degree at Tarrant County College and Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Texas at Arlington, where she was awarded a vocal scholarship. She has also earned Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society Scholarship. She a lifelong member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
Ms. Norman has worked with singers, actors, teachers, and performers to help better understand their voice & its design so they may efficiently, and effectively, express themselves. She focuses on teaching students to find & use their own voice in a healthy manner, and she is well-versed in working to help with the rehabilitation for those suffering from vocal challenges. Her instruction focuses on vocal technical development, as well as self-awareness, relaxation, confidence, performing skills, accuracy, musicality, interpretation, and professionalism.
Ms. Norman likes to empower & encourage her students and tends to be an upbeat teacher. Her primary goal, however, is seeing development and success in her students. Her impactful lessons have gone on to allow students to excel in participation as part of All-State & university a cappella choir auditions, conservatory auditions, and various vocal competitions.
